Event Description
The Snail Pie Lounge brings Matt Schofield, an award-winning guitarist from Manchester, England,to the Carroll Arts Center on Friday, September 27.
Despite being only 35 years old, Schofield has already gained international recognition for his talent, being named as one of the "Top 10 British Blues Guitarists of All Time" by Guitar & Bass Magazine and being named Guitarist the Year at three consecutive British Blues Awards. His sizzling guitar and sheer power and virtuosity have made him one of the most gifted guitarists on the contemporary Blues scene.
Influenced by Robben Ford, Albert King, and Albert Collins, Schofield has a unique sound because of his organ trio(guitar, organ, and drums) lineup and his imaginatively arranged and sharply written songs. His organist Jonny Henderson has also gained international recognition for his talent. His Blues playing has great rhythmic feel and plenty of energy, and has elements of rock, jazz, soul, and funk.
